O'Neills Victorian Pub & Townhouse has been family-owned since 1885, offering guests direct access to a working Victorian bar on the ground floor. The pub serves a wide range of Irish beers and over 50 whiskeys, with a food menu of home-cooked Irish dishes available during opening hours. Live traditional Irish music sessions are held twice a week, and the venue also provides on-site facilities for whiskey tastings and private events.
Accommodations
The townhouse has tastefully decorated bedrooms with contemporary en suite bathrooms and daily housekeeping service. All rooms require stair access as there is no elevator, and guests should note that staff may not always be available to carry luggage. Each room offers a private bathroom, heating, and free tea and coffee available 24/7 in the shared dining room.
Location & Transport
The property is superbly located opposite Trinity College and is a 5-minute walk from O'Connell Street and Grafton Street, Dublin's principal shopping district. Dublin Castle, St. Stephen's Green, and a range of museums and galleries are within walking distance, and the Bord Gais Theatre and Convention Centre Dublin are nearby. The stop for the airport bus (€9) is diagonally across the street and runs about every 15 minutes, with Dart train stations and city bus stops also a short walk away.
Policy & Accessibility
The pub is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so guests arriving on those days use self-check-in with an access code and key retrieval system. The hotel has affordable parking options nearby and offers luggage storage before check-in and after check-out. Security measures include CCTV in common areas and outside the property, smoke alarms, key card access, and fire extinguishers throughout the building.
Guest Services
The hotel offers daily housekeeping, a shared lounge/TV area, and complimentary tea and coffee in the dining room throughout the day. The on-site pub provides kids' meals, wine and champagne, and a designated smoking area for adults. Guest communication is managed through WhatsApp or email for check-in instructions and any assistance needed during the stay.

“O'Neills Victorian Pub & Townhouse, in my view, is a Dublin institution as much as a hotel, steps from Trinity College. The in-house pub sets the tone, steeped in Victorian charm with a lively lineup of traditional music and an impressive whiskey selection. It's a place where the history of the city feels genuinely alive.”

loud talking shower grout
The noise situation wasn't ideal. I was located near some sort of service area, and there was a lot of loud talking that traveled straight into the room. the bathroom was a little dated. I noticed some mold on the shower grout which wasn't great.
